This year, the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship is once again launching the Slim Innoveren (or Frugal Innovation) education program for entrepreneurs. This year for entrepreneurs in the tourism sector!
The training program is developed in collaboration with The Hague University of Applied Sciences and the International Centre for Frugal Innovation (ICFI). Thanks to the generous funding from the Province of South Holland, this training is completely free for SME (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) entrepreneurs in the tourism sector in South Holland!
Program
To all entrepreneurs and directors of SMEs in the South Holland tourism sector: Here's a unique opportunity to discover how to achieve more with the same resources by innovating smartly and simply. When it comes to innovation, entrepreneurs often tend to think in terms of more: more time, more money, more resources! But what if what you need is already at your disposal? By utilizing available resources differently, you can set development in motion.

Coming up with new products, services, and/or processes doesn't have to be expensive or technically complex. By reimagining the resources you have as an entrepreneur, you can generate ideas that bring favorable profit margins and even opportunities for more sustainable business practices. Sometimes, more is not always better!
The Slim Innoveren program supports South Holland SME entrepreneurs in the tourism sector to bounce back by offering four modules, each providing a different perspective on creative innovation in times of need and prosperity. From day one, participants will dive into practical problem-solving within their own businesses.
Learning Objectives
In the context of the tourism sector, the following points will be discussed:
- How to innovate in a smart, simple, and concrete way?
- How to apply this mindset to your own business? And how to proceed with its implementation?
- How to adapt a product to make it less complex, profitable, and yet appealing to your customers?
- How to simplify your business, perhaps through shorter supply chains or sustainable processes/resources?
What is Slim Innoveren?
Frugal Innovation, or Slim Innoveren, is an innovation technique focused on smart, frugal, and simple solutions. More is not always better! Therefore, Frugal Innovation aims to bring innovative products to the market that are:
- Simpler - What core value does the product offer to the customer?
- Cheaper - Both for the business and the customers. Often, these innovations are also more sustainable and easily recyclable.
A dynamic, practice-oriented learning environment for four days!
Coaches, guest speakers from the tourism sector, assignments, group discussions, and the latest research in the field of Frugal Innovation are used to immerse participants in a dynamic, practice-oriented learning environment for four days. Entrepreneurs from the tourism sector will learn side by side, leaving the program with more knowledge, greater resilience, a larger and tighter-knit network, and practical tools to guide them toward a future of success and stability.
For Whom?
This program is specially designed for entrepreneurs or directors of SMEs in the tourism sector in South Holland with a maximum of 50 employees. The training is intended for a maximum of 15 participants, so be quick to register!
