The African Diaspora Policy Centre (ADPC), Africa In Motion, the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam, and the International Centre for Frugal Innovation (ICFI) are jointly organizing an event on Diaspora entrepreneurship in frugal innovation.
The event will explore ways to increase and expand the engagement of Diaspora entrepreneurs in frugal innovation interventions, moving beyond the existing dispersed small-scale efforts that remain below the radar. It will bring together Diaspora entrepreneurs, policymakers, researchers and actors from mainstream development agencies to brainstorm, exchange ideas, share research findings and exchange policy and practical experiences.
The event aims to foster and promote viable contacts, networks and strategic alliances and partnerships between Diaspora entrepreneurs and key stakeholders in frugal innovation, including researchers, development organisations, the private sector and policymakers active in the field. Leveraging Diaspora entrepreneurship in frugal innovation interventions has the potential to enhance SME development in Africa. It also has the potential to greatly increase the involvement of African Diaspora communities - more than ever before - in the development cooperation ecosystem in the Netherlands.
