In this Development Research Seminar organised by the International Institute of Social Studies, researcher Smita Srinivas will examine on economic theories of learning and innovation and the institutional context of directed investment.
Drawing on cancer care and COVID-19, Smita Srinivas will discuss several innovation and technology cases against the challenge of priorities, policy realism and decision-making.

About the speaker
Smita Srinivas is Professorial Research Fellow in the Economics Department and the Development, Policy and Practice group(DPP) at the Open University, Milton Keynes, UK.
She is the 2021 Clarence E. Ayres Scholar of the Association for Evolutionary Economics and the 2015 biennial Myrdal Prize awardee of the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy for the monograph Market Menagerie: Health and Development in Late Industrial States Stanford University Press, 2012.
She holds additional appointments at the National Centre for Biological Sciences-Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (NCBS-TIFR), India, and the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Public Policy at University College London
